What the work is for

Speech systems have to follow people who talk freely, not only people reading aloud. Spontaneous conversation is the one thing scripted recordings cannot give a model.

The work

  • Hold recorded conversations on the topics the project provides.
  • Talk the way you normally do. There is no script to read.
  • Keep the audio quality within the project's guidelines for the whole session.

What to expect

  • Before you record, the platform takes you through a microphone test and an intake step.
  • Some projects record you alone, others in pairs or groups.

What you bring

  • Your own device to record on.
  • A quiet room to talk in.

You need

  • Native or near-native command of the language you speak in.
  • Consent to be recorded, signed for each project in an agreement that sets how the recordings may be used.
  • 18 years or older.

Good to know

  • Not every device or room passes the audio check.
  • Applying does not guarantee a project. You are invited when one needs your language.
