Radiation Oncologist: AI Training and Medical Image Contouring (Remote, Worldwide)

We need radiation oncologists to contour target volumes on head and neck and brain CT and MRI. Your contours become the expert reference set used to validate a radiotherapy auto-contouring product, so accuracy and consistency matter more than speed. First project: 10 to 40 hours over 2 to 4 weeks, remote, on your own schedule, with further projects for readers who deliver well.

The work

  • Primary work: target volumes (GTV, CTV) and head and neck nodal levels on pseudonymised planning CT, and on MRI where the protocol asks for it.
  • Depending on experience: second-reader review of organ-at-risk contours drawn by dosimetrists, and adjudication where two readers disagree, with a logged reason.
  • Protocol first; where it is silent, Brouwer 2015 for head and neck OARs, Grégoire for nodal levels, the EPTN atlas for brain. TG-263 structure names.
  • Two calibration cases before production. Every case gets independent review, and you see the feedback.
  • Cases come in batches from a small, named panel; volume and turnaround are agreed per project.

Who we are looking for

  • Board-certified radiation oncologist, or resident in the final years of training.
  • Routine head and neck (with nodal levels) and/or CNS contouring.
  • Any treatment planning system or research contouring tool; onboarding in the project platform is provided.
  • Written English good enough to follow a protocol and log decisions.

How the work runs

  • Fully remote, flexible hours, paid per hour on invoice as an independent contractor. Open to specialists living in the countries listed on this page.
  • Compensation: paid hourly. Tell us your expected hourly rate and currency when you apply. Each project invitation states the exact scope, hours and rate before you accept.
  • Confidentiality and project-specific data handling requirements apply, and you sign them before any access.
  • If your employment contract requires approval for outside work, please arrange it before you accept a project.
